Venues

Or places we've played.

Cedar Grove - WV

  • Cedar Grove Community Building [Walpurgis Night] - April 30, 1995. Very small crowd. Bad venue choice for a demo release party [Darker]. Davy's last gig with us. [Roster: Tony, Jamie, Brett, Davy]

Charleston - WV

  • Common Grounds - Jan 12, 1996. Nice, big stage and an eager all ages crowd. First gig we brought merch to. Enjoyed a veggie burger on the house afterward. [Roster: Tony, Jamie, Brett, Dusty, Todd]
  • The Empty Glass - Feb 3, 1996. The stage was tight and the bar was packed. It was hard to move around and it was hotter than the blazes. [Roster: Tony, Jamie, Brett, Dusty, Todd]

Huntington - WV

  • Eastgate [later called Marleys and Shamrocks] with No Excuse. Fun ;] [Roster: Tony, Jamie, Brett, Buzz, Jeremy]

Parkersburg, - WV

  • Michael Maxwell's Residence [Party] - Oct 21, 1995. Very cold. Our stage was like a flatbed trailer or something. Not a very big crowd but they were very supportive. At least there was a keg. [Roster: Tony, Jamie, Brett, Dusty, Todd]
  • The Sportsman's Bar & Grill - We really had to work the crowd at this one. We got the feeling that the bar's regulars didn't exactly like our style of music. I think this was the last time Jamie sang his two solo songs off Darker. Played with Death by Daisys. [Roster: Tony, Jamie, Brett, Davy]
  • Brass Works - Soooo many shows. We were actually kicked out of there for a while too. Powerhouse was Parkersburg's only metal and alternative outlet at the time. Played with Blessed Altar/Autumn Mourning, No Excuse, Deathmark, Tony Trash and the Sin Sisters and more I can't remember. The Brassworks Halloween gig was arguably the best gig we played there. Packed house. Lots of energy. So much fun ;] [Roster: Every member of Midian who ever played a gig played at least once at Brassworks, so... Tony, Jamie, Brett, Davy, Mark, Cass, Dusty, Todd, Buzz and Jeremy] [Halloween '95 show roster: Tony, Jamie, Brett, Dusty, Todd]
  • Rogers - Oct 4/5, 1996. Midian's final show took place here. Played with Sick World/No Excuse, Loaded and others. That venue closed its doors to us after we called the owner on the fact that he was giving folks their cover fee BACK if they left any time before 2AM! That was our money, jack! [Final show Roster: Tony, Jamie, Brett, Buzz, Jeremy]
  • City Park Pavillion - We played two shows at the Parkersburg City Park Pavillion. I can't remember if there were supposed to be other bands at the first one. After the first gig, we recorded a version of Corpus Dracon without the vocals. That recording [by Cass' friend Scott] was never seen again. The second was Metalfest '95. Metalfest was a beautiful disaster. Two of the bands were no-shows and we had to find bands to fill their spots. Played with Zao, Rev Nick Barry and Deathmark. Jamie screamed the F-bomb in place of the bridge during Conform. [City Park Roster: Tony, Jamie, Brett, Dusty, Cass] [Metalfest Roster: Tony, Jamie, Brett, Dusty, Todd]

Point Pleasant, WV

  • Maplewood Drive Inn - I [Tony] thought I was gonna have to kill Brett when he booked our METAL band at a COUNTRY bar, we played two nights, had a lot of fun and we won them over! Someone did put the theme song to Deliverance on the jukebox when we first walked in, so I'm not kidding when I say we won them over. Mentioned in the ROC article. Met Syd Edwards the second night. Some girl slow danced on stage to Wasting Away, a Tom Petty look-alike tried to break up a bar fight on the second night, and we got out alive and with our equipment undamaged. ;] [Roster: Tony, Jamie, Brett, Mark]

Charlottesville - VA

  • Trax - Arguably our biggest gig. Too bad half the band was sicker than dogs when we got onstage. Still we jammed like madmen up there. Cass' friend Scoot stage-dived during our set. Jamie puked up black afterwards. I [Tony] put myself out of my misery with a bottle of Jaegermeister as soon as our set was done. Cannot recall the name of the other two bands we played with but they let us know they were very impressed when we got backstage. Biggest stage we ever set foot on. Brett claims that he and Dusty dived off the stage during one of the other bands' sets, but Dusty has no memory of this; of course, he was very, very sick and "self-medicated" so anything is possible. [Roster: Tony, Jamie, Brett, Dusty, Cass]
Trax was shuttered in 2000 and then demolished in 2002
